MUSIC QUESTIONS

This is the final Eb 13th Chord in Bruckner's Symphony No. 4.

It is missing the 7th, 9th and 11th making it sound more like an Eb Major chord with an added minor 6th.

Will this chord sound any better if the 13th is sharpened.

"C" Overtone Series

Stravinsky makes the statement that he had trouble understanding the 12 tone music composition system since 7 tones were sufficient for him.

My thought is that as you reduce the scale from 12 to 7 you might have more flexibility of intonation. The simpler the harmony the more leeway can be taken with pitch. Major thirds and sixths could be flat. Minor thirds and sixths could be sharp. The minor seventh could be real flat. The eleventh and thirteenth real sharp and, of course, all the inversions.
